Qatar gratuity calculator

The end-of-service gratuity Qatar's Labour Law guarantees when you leave a job after a year or more. Enter your last basic salary and your years of service; the result is the legal minimum, and your contract may promise more.

How the job ended

Your end-of-service gratuity

QAR 35,000

105 days of wage for 5 years of service.

The rules

  • You qualify after at least one year of service with the employer.
  • The minimum is three weeks' (21 days') basic salary for each year of service; part years count pro rata. The daily rate here is monthly basic ÷ 30.
  • It's calculated on your last basic salary, without housing, transport or other allowances.
  • The law sets a floor, not a ceiling: your contract or company policy may give more, but not less.
  • The old four-week and five-week rates for longer service no longer apply under the current law.
  • Qatari nationals are covered by the social insurance (pension) law instead.

Questions

How is gratuity calculated in Qatar?

Divide your last monthly basic salary by 30 for a daily wage, multiply by 21 days, and multiply by your years of service, part years included. For example, QAR 1,500 basic for 5.6 years is 5.6 × 21 × 50 = QAR 5,880.

Do I get gratuity if I resign in Qatar?

Yes. The Labour Law entitlement depends on completing at least a year of service, not on who ends the contract.

Is gratuity calculated on basic or gross salary?

On the last basic salary. Allowances such as housing and transport aren't included unless your contract says otherwise.

Can my employer pay more than three weeks a year?

Yes. Three weeks a year is the minimum. Many contracts give four weeks or a month for each year, and that contractual figure is what you're owed.
