How income tax works in the Philippines

Taxable income is the year's salary less the 13th-month pay and other benefits up to ₱90,000 and the employee's SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG contributions. The first ₱250,000 is tax-free.

Employee contributions. SSS takes 5% of the monthly salary credit (₱5,000 to ₱35,000, so at most ₱1,750 a month). PhilHealth takes 2.5% of basic pay between ₱10,000 and ₱100,000. Pag-IBIG takes 2%, capped at ₱200 a month.

What this estimate simplifies

Treats the annual amount as 13 equal months, with no other bonuses, allowances or de minimis benefits. Contribution rates are the 2025 schedules still in force in 2026.

Every figure is for resident employee, salary paid as 12 months plus 13th-month pay, in the local currency. See the methodology for how we calculate and test.
